We would like to thank the Stadt- und Bergbaumuseum Freiberg for its trust and the long-standing, excellent cooperation.

The museum’s photo archive offers a photographic insight into the history of Freiberg and its surroundings, including some of the city’s earliest images dating back to around 1850. It covers a wide range of subjects, with a focus on urban history, mining and metallurgy, and the history of photography and photographers.

Since July 1, 2024, the photo archive has been under the care of the City Archive Freiberg. It is being merged with the archive’s own photo collection and now finds its new home in the modern, climate-controlled storage facilities of the Herderhaus. Both the museum and the city archive are institutions of the University City of Freiberg.
